HAVING A FINGER ON THE PULSE OF GOD

If man wishes to be successful in life- this life and carrying on to eternity, he needs to have a finger on the pulse of God. Discerning the will of God and carrying out his will ensures success. To begin with, this requires man to understand that God has a perfect will for man here on earth.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)

Paul reminds us that there is a good, pleasing and perfect will of God. This purpose of God for each person is the summit of goodness and perfection and will bring joy to man as he lives out his life here on earth. That God has a perfect will does not mean that man will find it or do it. The input man receives from the world induces conformity to its slavish worldly principles. Any one who dares to think or do differently is condemned to be a fool. However man does not even begin to qualify to receive the will of God unless he dissociates from the worldly pattern and is transformed by a mind renewed by the indwelling Holy Spirit to think along the lines of thought that God has.

And as he carries out the will of God, he appears to be a fool for throwing away the security and comfort that the world offers.

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? ——–For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. (1Corinthians 1:20-25)

William Carey was labeled a fool for going to India, but in doing so, he established a missionary movement that spanned decades. David Livingstone went against current wisdom and spent a lifetime in Africa, becoming one of the most famous explorers and missionaries to Africa. What might appear to be foolish and weak in the opinion of man’s wisdom is way better than human wisdom and human strength, because God stands behind his will and ensures that it comes to pass.

From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do. (Isaiah 46:11)

He will ensure that his agents accomplish what has been proclaimed and ordained. Success is available to be taken. The pulse of God will continue to beat and all that matters is if man is able to get his finger on the pulse of God and dance along with its tune.
