GOD’S RESTORATION

Life this side of eternity has its share of trials and tribulations. There are times when God’s own are forced to go through darkness and despair, and restoration is awaited. How does that restoration look like?

This is what the Lord says: “In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you;I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people to restore the land and to reassign its desolate inheritances, to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’ “They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill. They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water. (Isaiah 49:8-10)

God’s time: The hardest thing to do is to do nothing and wait. God’s time is very different from ours and his time is the best. The day of God’s favor and the time of his salvation brings forth his help and his answer to long standing prayers. While waiting is tough, it also produces endurance and patience, which are among the highest virtues one can incorporate.

God’s freedom: Being enslaved to the many things of this world is what makes life descend into chaos and darkness. True freedom that comes from God is not the illusory freedom to do anything you want, rather the ability to do that which is right. As captives are set free, life becomes one of abundance.

God’s abundance: The abundance that comes from God is superior to that which the world can offer, because God reverses situations. Life is injected into a land of desolation and emptiness. The disciple is left with awe and wonder as every barren hill in his life becomes a thriving pasture.

God’s compassion: God’s love is the solvent in which all of God’s work and attributes become real to us. Even if a mother forgets her baby, God will not forget us, and he never takes away the specter of love from his people. He promises to lead his children beside springs of water.

When besotted by difficulties and overwhelmed by despair, it is important to rest assured that God’s restoration is yonder.

So true – “True freedom that comes from God is not the illusory freedom to do anything you want, rather the ability to do that which is right. “
