STRENGTH THROUGH QUIETNESS

Some straggle through life, others stride through it. The difference between the two is the time the latter take to spend time in quietness before God. One cannot expect to be strong unless a discipline is built up to receive strength from One who is stronger. Isaiah 50:4,5 is a good reference to the dynamic of a quiet time.

The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.
He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.
The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears; I have not been rebellious,
I have not turned away.

It is the Lord who wakens the disciple. Be it sleep or slumber from the intoxications of the world, the Lord wakens to guide the disciple to a time of quietness. And when the Lord leads you to spend time with him, no other preoccupation can be too great to stand in the way. No other engagement can be as joyous. Making a habit of being led by the Lord as He wakens, helps the disciple to draw on the strength of the Lord at times of greatest need.

A quiet time can be had at any time, but mornings are the best. It is ideal when man can have his quiet time in the morning and receive orientation and strength to face the day. Miss it first thing in the morning, and there are far too many things on the mind, competing for one’s attention.

An instructed tongue is a gift from God. It is the ability to understand and receive the word of God. An instructed tongue is necessary because God’s language is his own. But when man leans toward God and receives Christ as his Savior, he also receives God’s Spirit within him to help him understand the things of God.

Responding to the word of God with obedience requires man to overcome his rebellious nature. The word of God, and the presence of God come home with divine strength, but are of no avail to those who rebel against it.

For one who is weary and burdened, there needs to be a solution. And being quiet before the Lord is the secret formula to being strong.

Having (quiet) time with God in the morning is important because it will help you clear your mind of all thoughts and only think about God. When you spend time with God everyday, He will help you in your troubles.
